Announcements for Swim Meet Tomorrow (6/24) at Beaconsdale
- Swim meet tomorrow is away at Beaconsdale. Address is 18 Ferguson Lane, Newport News 23601. Directions: Take Warwick Blvd. east to Harpersville Rd. Make a left onto Harpersville Rd Make your 2nd left onto Ferguson Ln. Pool is on your right.
-Make sure you declare your swimmer ASAP in swimtopia as either attending or not, NLT this evening. Now that we are using the electronic system and not paper lane slips, once the coaches set the meet schedule, swimmers cannot be added to the line up the day of. If there is no selection made, coaches will assume that your swimmer will not be attending. I will hate to have to tell your swimmer they can't swim if they show up at the meet and haven't been declared in the system prior, but that is what will have to happen. There are still a number of swimmers still showing undeclared on swimtopia.
-If you have a non-swimmer who still intends to participate in the meet, they will be REQUIRED to provide their own life vest/water wings and will need to wear them when they compete. We will be having littles use kickboards as well for an added layer of safety.
-Tideriders need to arrive at Beaconsdale by 5pm. Allow time to get your events written on your arm before the meet starts. Our warm up time will start at 5:15 and the meet will start at promptly at 6pm.
-If you have it, wear your Tiderider spirit wear. Or anything blue and green will work too. Swimsuit for the meet is still just a plain black racing suit.
-If you haven't seen the post in the Facebook group yet, let me reiterate our huge thanks for our Northampton friends donating their lane lines and wheel to the Tiderider team after ours officially went kaput last week. Another big thanks to everyone that worked hard to schedule, transport, and move the lines/wheel to its new home at Elizabeth Lake. It felt like Christmas in June this afternoon when I stopped by and saw it parked on the pool deck. (I will need some help Tuesday evening during practice to send the broken wheel and lines on their final journey to the curb for bulk trash pickup).
-Please reach out if you have any questions.
